Shibuya is one of the great café neighbourhoods in Tokyo and none of that is true before nine in the morning. What opens at seven is three branches of McDonald's, a Starbucks and the café inside TSUTAYA. The rest of it starts when the shops do.

Weekday opening times and ratings from public Google Maps listings, checked 12 August 2026. Highlighted rows open before 8:00. 5 more venues in the radius publish no opening time and are left out. Distances are straight-line from the station centre. Weekend hours differ.
Three McDonald's open at 7:00 and that is not a joke. Center Street, Sakura Stage and Toei Plaza. Plus Starbucks at Mark City and the TSUTAYA café overlooking the crossing, which rates 4.1 across 4,874 reviews and is mostly rated for the view.
The highest-rated venues here are not cafés. SHIBUYA CROSSING S VIEW at 4.6, Shibuya Stream Hotel at 4.5, The Matcha Tokyo at Miyashita Park at 4.5. Shibuya sells the vantage point and the room; the coffee comes with it.
Fewer venues publish opening hours here than anywhere else in this series. Fifteen of twenty, against twenty of twenty in Ebisu and Asakusa. Shibuya's café stock turns over fast and the listings do not always keep up — worth checking the individual listing before you set out.
The crossing at seven in the morning is genuinely worth seeing and almost nobody does it. The TSUTAYA café opens at that hour and looks straight down on it, which is the one early-morning thing in Shibuya that is better than the alternative.
For actual coffee, Ebisu is one stop south and its shops open at 8:00, or Kanda is fifteen minutes east on the Ginza line and opens at 7:00. I run a stand at the Kanda end — takeaway only, no seats, which is the opposite of what Shibuya is for.
Three McDonald's branches, a Starbucks at Mark City and the TSUTAYA café all open at 7:00. Independent coffee mostly starts at 9:00 or later.
The TSUTAYA café looks directly onto it and opens at 7:00. It rates 4.1 across nearly 4,900 reviews, most of which are about the view rather than the coffee.
Not much within 400 m that opens early. Ebisu is one stop south and has SARUTAHIKO and Blue Bottle from 8:00.
SHIBUYA CROSSING S VIEW at 4.6, though like most highly-rated venues here it is rated for the vantage point rather than the drink.
One stop on the Yamanote line, about two minutes.
Five of the twenty venues within 400 m publish no hours on Google. Shibuya's café stock changes quickly and listings lag behind.
